Project completed while working at Robert A.M. Stern Architects

This 46 acre mountaintop resort on the outskirts of Chongqing features a retail village, a wedding chapel with a reception lawn, a hotel, and a conference center, and in future phases, hillside villas. Visitors arrive by car along the edge of the retail village, marked by a landscaped plaza and a gateway arch, centering the village and leading to a stair that climbs to a series of gardens, culminating in an oval lawn sized for large events. To the north, on axis with the lawn, is a wedding chapel conceived as a garden pavilion; to the south is an amphitheater. The site is lushly planted to provide varied landscape experiences with a series of outdoor rooms and dramatic water features.
